RED OAK – The Red Oak Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division has identified the suspect from the Jan. 27 purse snatching at the Whataburger in the 100 block of Harris Road.
According to Red Oak Police Department’s Lieutenant Marc Schroeder, the subject was identified as Camron Dewayne Vance, 19.
There were three black male subjects in their late teens to early 20s who took part in the purse snatching.
The other two suspects remain unidentified at this time.
The incident happened around 9:40 a.m. The suspects were seen in a green stolen van out of Dallas.
On Jan. 30, the Red Oak Police Department executed an arrest warrant for Vance.
He was later arrested by the Dallas County Sheriff’s office. He was later moved to the Ellis County Sheriff’s office on Jan. 31, and his currently still in custody.
He was charged with Theft from a Person with a $20,000 bond by the Red Oak Police Department.
The incident occurred when Vance and his two colleagues went inside the Whataburger, walked around without incident on Jan, 27, and returned to the van surveying arriving customers.
One of the suspects eventually got out of the van and grabbed a purse from a woman standing with a group of people.
The suspect then jumped back into the van, which left the Whataburger parking lot heading northbound on the I-35E service road towards Dallas.
The stolen green van was later recovered. The suspects also committed additional offenses in Cedar Hill and Desoto on the same day.
