RED OAK – The candidate filing and voting dates have been set for the 2020 Red Oak Independent School District’s Board of Trustee election.
The board election will be held on Saturday, May 2.
The election will consist of a general election with Place 3, 4 and 5 for three-year terms, and a special election to fill the vacancy in Place 6 for a one-year term. The special election will fill the vacancy left by Eric Thompson’s resignation for a job relocation.
The positions up for election in 2020 are:
• PLACE 3 – John Anderson (incumbent), threeyear term;
• PLACE 4 - Johnny Knight (incumbent), threeyear term;
• PLACE 5 - Penny Story (incumbent), threeyear term;
• PLACE 6 - Vacant, one-year term.
Candidate filing dates for the Red Oak ISD Board of Trustees election are Jan. 15 through Feb. 14. Interested candidates may pick up and submit a candidate packet at the Red Oak ISD Education Service Center (Administration), 109 W. Red Oak Rd. from Wednesday, Jan. 15 to Thursday, Feb. 13 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Friday, Feb. 14 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Early voting for the election will occur Apr. 20- 24 and Apr. 27-28. Times and locations will be posted on the Ellis County elections website.
