OVILLA – The city of Ovilla has named its new city manager.

Deciding to hire from within, longtime City Secretary Pam Woodall was appointed to the position last week.

“We are happy that Pam has accepted our selection as city manager.

“Her dedication to the city of Ovilla has been demonstrated by the excellent job she did as city secretary, and we look forward to her leadership as we move forward,” said Ovilla Mayor Richard Dormier.

As a 26-year retiree from the city of Cedar Hill, Woodall said she has never worked so hard “since coming to Ovilla with the multiple responsibilities these two positions carry.

“As a 14-year employee of Ovilla, serving as the city secretary, and assuming the temporary task as interim city manager on three separate occasions, both being senior official positions, Mayor Dormier and council have entrusted me with this permanent position and responsibility. I am committed for many reasons.”

Named to replace Woodall in the city secretary position is Glennell “G” Miller, the former deputy city secretary. Miller was appointed to her new position on the same evening Woodall was promoted – Jan. 13.

Miller has been with the city of Ovilla for eight years.

She also heads Ovilla’s HR Department.

“That dedication drives all our directors and city employees. That requires a superb team/work family, and we have that at Ovilla, which includes continued support from our respected mayor and council.”
