WILMER – For a holiday celebration that will make the holidays come alive, join the city of Wilmer for its one-day Wilmer on Ice event on Dec. 22.

“Wilmer is a small hometown poised for greatness,” said Wilmer Mayer Emmanuel Wealthy-Williams.

“Every year families must be creative for the Christmas holiday when it comes to making plans. This season Wilmer is making the holidays special.” The city will be teaming up with The Blackburn Foundation, Suga Suga Toy Drive and Viva Loda of 97.9, along with a host of additional companies for Wilmer on Ice.

The hope, said Wealthy-Williams is to give children an unforgettable Christmas experience.

Wilmer on Ice will take place on Sunday, Dec. 22 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. with real ice on a skating rink located at 128 North Dallas Avenue.

At 3 p.m. there will be the Viva and Suga Suga Toy Drive with toys being distributed.

Attendees can also expect food vendors, music, photos taken by the city Christmas tree and Santa will be on hand for last minute requests from children.

“With no recreation center or movie cinema in the city, Wilmer on Ice is our creative way to bring our community together,” Wealthy-Williams concluded.
