RED OAK – The Red Oak Police Department announced the arrest of two people Monday, July 15, on multiple burglary of a motor vehicle charges.

According to a department-issued press release, at about 3:54 a.m. July 15, Red Oak Police Sergeant David Palmer was on routine patrol in the 100 block of Paradise Way when he observed a white male rummaging through a vehicle parked in front of a residence – with another vehicle parked nearby containing a white female passenger.

Upon further investigation, it was determined that the man, with the woman’s assistance, had burglarized multiple unlocked vehicles throughout the city of Red Oak.

The couple were taken into custody for multiple counts of burglary of a vehicle based on the investigation. Each was apprehended and booked without incident, according to the release. 

The two have been identified as:

Matthew Wade Bass, 29, of Haltom City, who was pending arraignment on three charges of burglary of a vehicle.

Brianna Marie Bass, 23, of Haltom City, who was pending arraignment on four charges of burglary of a vehicle.

Based on the physical evidence recovered from the couple’s vehicle, it appears that multiple burglaries of unlocked vehicles were committed by the pair in the cities of Red Oak, Ovilla and Glenn Heights and potentially several other North Texas cities

The press release also states anyone who had their car burglarized from 6 p.m. Sunday, July 14, through 3:54 a.m. Monday, July 15, should contact their local police department to report the burglary and have the respective law enforcement agency contact the Red Oak Police Department to attempt to identify any recovered property.

The Red Oak Police Department Criminal Investigations Division is continuing its investigation which has additional potential offenses linked to the couple.
