Beginning at 6 a.m. on Saturday, July 13, FPD volunteers braved the heat and hot pavement and collected donations from passing motorists on downtown Ferris street corners and intersections.
This year’s goal was $2,500, but the Ferris community stepped up – and gave a whole lot more.
Thanks to an outpouring of selfless giving, a grand total of $5,120.41 was collected.
The money will be used to buy back-to-school supplies for at least 600 Ferris ISD students.
Chief Eddie Salazar posted a huge thanks to the FPD citizen volunteers who participated on Facebook, stating “without them this wouldn’t have been possible,” and listed the people who gave their time Saturday:
• Ronnie Magness
• Norma Magness
• CeCe Alfaro
• Sharon Harris
• Sherie Chapman
• Greg Chapman
• Jim Stafford
• Kay Huff
• Tim Silurik
The chief also gave a special thanks to the Gazebo-A-Thon’s corporate donors:
• Kelly Harris Company, LLC
• No-Digtec, LLC
• GWG Woodgroup, Inc.
• Allen National Investments, LLC
• Nicholas Petroff
• John D. Hall Sand & Gravel
