FM 664 widening Public Hearing June 27

FERRIS – The Texas Department of Transportation will hold a public hearing regarding the proposed widening of FM 664 from Interstate 35E in Red Oak to Interstate 45 south in Ferris in Ellis County.

The purpose of the hearing is to present the planned improvements and receive public comment.

The hearing will be held on Thursday, June 27 at Ferris High School, 1025 East 8th Street in Ferris. Displays will be available for viewing at 6 p.m., and the formal hearing starts at 7 p.m.

The improvements would include reconstructing and widening FM 664 from a two/four-lane undivided rural roadway to a six-lane rural, curb and gutter divided facility with a raised median.

A 2.5 mile bypass located south of the City of Ferris would be realigned and constructed on new location as a six-lane urban roadway to connect to a new interchange at I-45.

Major interchanges are proposed at IH 35 on the western terminus and at IH 45 on the eastern terminus.

Approximately 164 acres of additional right of way and eight acres of permanent easements is required.

The FM 664 widening project could displace 14 residences and 10 commercial properties.

Waters of the U.S. and wetlands are located within the project limits and may be impacted.

The cost of the project is approximately $370 Million and construction is expected to begin in 2023 with completion within two years.
