Competing against more than 70 girls from across the nation, Jaksyn Brown, a first grader at Donald T. Shields Elementary in Red Oak won the title of 2018-2019 National-All American Miss Princess in Anaheim, Calif.

Her other awards, while at the pageant, included second runner up in the spokes-model competition, second runner up in the photogenic competition, and first place in the actress competition where the prize package includes a cruise for two. Her new national title included a $2,000 scholarship, and an opportunity to travel the country over the next year representing the city of Red Oak and the state of Texas. This summer Jaksyn will represent Ellis County nationally on her Summer Tour to Houston, Baton Rouge, Lou, Tulsa, Okla., New Brunswick, New Jersey, and Anaheim, Calif.

Jaksyn’s other accomplishments include being an award-winning public speaker, straight A student and recipient of The Presidential Volunteer Service Award by the Corporation for National and Community Service. The National American Miss Pageant System is the largest in the nation. The focus of this organization is to create future leaders and to equip them with real-world skills to make their dreams a reality. The program is based on inner beauty, as well as poise and presentation, and offers an “All American spirit of fun for family and friends.”

Emphasis is placed on the importance of gaining self-confidence and learning new skills, such as good attitudes about competition, as well as setting and achieving personal goals.
