DALLAS– Adiela Tobar, 5, of Red Oak, is a featured model in the Children’s Cancer Fund Gala “An Evening in the Garden,” where hope blooms in an enchanted garden filled with miraculous stories of survival, on Friday, April 26, at the Hilton Anatole Dallas.

In July 2017, Tobar was diagnosed with hepatoblastoma, a very rare cancerous tumor that starts in the liver.

Her mom first  discovered a lump during her bath time, and the family soon learned that her cancer had metastasized to both lung lobes. In a few months, the family received the news she would not need a transplant.  Surgery soon followed to remove most of Tobar’s liver and part of her diaphragm, and the margins were clear. More chemo followed with most of December in the hospital, but she was home in time for Christmas.

Tobar reached the end of treatment on Feb. 22, and four days later her baby brother Gabriel was born. She is not currently in treatment, but sees her doctor every three months.
