WILMER GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION FILINGS OPEN

WILMER – The City’s upcoming general municipal election will be held on Saturday, May 4, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., for the purpose of electing a mayor and two city council members, at-large, for a two year term.

Denton – Sumer Coulston, Red Oak Deputy City Secretary, graduated from the Texas Municipal Clerks Certification Program.Graduates complete approximately 200 hours of individual study over a four-course curriculum and attend eight two-day seminars for an additional 100 hours of classroom study.

Ennis PD respond to shots fired Sunday

ENNIS – The Ennis Police Department responded to shots fired Sunday morning at locations including the 900 block of S. McKinney Street and on Tonya Lynn.According to Ennis PD, there were no known victims associated with the gunfire.

2024 VOTE: Mail-in ballot applications available

AUSTIN – As of  Jan. 1, Texans can now apply for a ballot by mail to start the voting process in the March 5 primary election for local, state, and national offices. VOTING REGISTRATIONBefore you can vote by mail, you must be registered to vote. Voter registration in Texas must be done by Feb.

Ellis County Commissioners continue to search for HR Director

ELLIS COUNTY – The Ellis County Commissioners Court decided in a 3-2 vote to continue to search for a new human resources director.Lane Grayson, pct. 2, made the motion to continue looking while Ellis County Judge Todd Little disagreed.

2024 VOTE: 3 TEXAS SUPREME COURT SEATS ON BALLOT

AUSTIN – Three places on the Supreme Court of Texas will be featured on the forthcoming general election ballot, but not before the field is narrowed in the primary election in 2024.

HWY 287 BEING CONSIDERED FOR INTERSTATE HIGHWAY

ELLIS COUNTY – If you frequent U.S. Highway 287 the future for that roadway might be changing in the next few years. The Texas Department of Transportation recently conducted a study in which the possibility of converting Highway 287 into an interstate highway could become a reality.
