Shooting leaves man hospitalized

 ENNIS – An early morning shooting in Ennis last week left one man hospitalized.Ennis Police responded to a shooting that occurred in the 3000 block of Cardinal Drive just before 3 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 25.The shooting occurred due to an argument that escalated, according to Ennis PD’s Facebook page.

Methodist Midlothian expanding emergency, inpatient capacity

 MIDLOTHIAN – A $24.8 million expansion project will be bringing greater emergency services and inpatient capacity to Midlothian’s Methodist hospital.No specific date has been revealed, but construction will begin in 2025 on the 8,800-square-foot addition to the emergency department.

TEA releases 2025 A-F accountability ratings, restoring transparency

 ELLIS COUNTY – The Texas Education Agency (TEA) published its state’s A-F academic accountability system for 2024 and 2025 this past Friday.You can find all the results at TXschools.gov.As a reminder, the 2024 release was held up by a lawsuit.

Lancaster’s The Lovin’ Oven – baking for 50 years

 LANCASTER – The Lovin’ Oven Bakery, located in Historic Lancaster Towne Square, celebrated 50 years in business this past Saturday.The bakery was started in 1975, and has been continually baking since, closing only for three weeks in 1994 due to the Lancaster tornado.

Nichirin acquires Ferris’ ATCO Products

 FERRIS – ATCO Products, founded in 1967, was recently acquired by Nichirin, a Japanese leading manufacturer of automotive and motorcycle hoses.Nichirin is enhancing its global positioning through its mid-term management plan, according to a press release.
