WFD continues services to unincorporated Dallas

WILMER – The Wilmer City Council approved to continue its Interlocal Agreements with Dallas County to provide ambulance services for 200 Greene Road, the Judge John C Cruezot Judicial Treatment Center, as well as both ambulance and fire protection services for portions of unincorporated Dallas.

Ovilla installs license plate reader camera

OVILLA – If you are trying to stay away from the law, your best bet is to stay out of Ovilla. Earlier this year the city installed what is called the FLOCK SAFETY license plate reader camera.

Ferris church burglarized

Thieves threw a brick though the entry door at the Covenant Church in Ferris around midnight Sunday, Aug. 18. A surveillance video showed two male suspects stealing a KORG and a YAMAHA keyboard, together valued at $4,000.

5,200-acre development planned for Ferris

FERRIS – The 5,200-acre Woodstone development is planned on the east side of Interstate 45 at Southcreek Ranch, according to Corey Ford of Tommy Ford Construction, which is working on the big housing development.

WILMER MAN FOUND DEAD INSIDE APARTMENT AFTER SWAT STANDOFF

WILMER – A standoff with a Wilmer man and the Wilmer Police and Dallas County Sheriff Department’s Tactical Team ended with the man’s suicide. The Wilmer resident, whose name has not been released, shot himself Aug. 7 at around 3 a.m. at the Emili Liberty Crossing Apartments.

Ovilla sets November bond election

OVILLA – The Ovilla City Council voted to call a bond election at Monday night’s council meeting. The election will be held on Nov. 5, Election Day. A citizen’s advisory committee working on this project for some time strongly recommended municipal facility improvements.
Last week, Wilmer Mayor Emmanuel Wealthy-Williams, along with State Representative Carl Sherman, Lancaster Mayor Clyde Hairston, Hutchins Mayor Pro Tem Raymond Elmore and a number of other city officials from the area broke ground on Pleasant Run Road at the site of Yes Communities Manufacturer Homes.

WILMER – It was just a matter of time before the progress around Interstate 45 and the surrounding area would begin to cause a need for more lanes on Pleasant Run Road.
