WILMER – It was just a matter of time before the progress around Interstate 45 and the surrounding area would begin to cause a need for more lanes on Pleasant Run Road.
Last week, Wilmer Mayor Emmanuel Wealthy-Williams, along with State Representative Carl Sherman, District 109, Lancaster Mayor Clyde Hairston, Hutchins Mayor Pro Tem Raymond Elmore and a number of other city officials from the area broke ground on Pleasant Run Road at the site of Yes Communities Manufacturer Homes.
With about 50-plus people in attendance at the groundbreaking, Mayor Wealthy-Williams said as she opened the ceremony “we are so excited we can hardly contain ourselves. It feels like Christmas.”
The road improvement project took a collaborative effort between all the cities involved.
Sherman said, “This is a great day. Thank you for this progress. Together everyone achieves more.”
With 70,000 acres of undeveloped land still in the area, Mike Radar, a local major industrial land developer said, “I’ve been waiting on this day for a while, and the vision is coming true for the Dallas Inland Port.”
All the city leaders were excited about the positive future in the area with the ongoing developments.
Hairston said, “Positive partnership brings on prosperity. That is what it is all about.”
Hairston said the city of Lancaster is always eager to partner with sister cities such as Wilmer.
The City of Hutchins was also glad to join, and Mayor Pro Tem Elmore said “It is a great thing we can tie these three cities in. This is a great opportunity and something we have been wanting a lot of years.”
As the groundbreaking ceremony ended Wealthy-Williams concluded, “We are glad to be breaking the ground from Lancaster to Wilmer. All roads lead to Wilmer.”
