WAXAHACHIE – If you are a historic property owner in Waxahachie, you might be able to get a break on your taxes.
Waxahachie offers tax incentives for historic residential and commercial properties to encourage property owners to maintain the historical integrity of their property.
The historic tax incentive provides a 25% discount on the City’s portion of property taxes based on the property’s appraised value.
It requires an annual application process to take advantage of the incentive.
The Historic Preservation officer starts accepting applications for the exemption from December to March 15.
The tax incentives are approved by the Heritage Preservation Commission to ensure property owners have maintained the historical integrity of the property.
