ENNIS – The Ennis special election for Mayor and Mayor Pro Tem saw the unofficial results naming Lynda Isbell as the city’s new mayor.
Isbell was the Mayor Pro Tem who stepped down to run for the vacant seat left when former Mayor Kameron Raburn announced his run for Ellis County Judge.
Isbell had 846 votes or 51.65%, with Becky McCarty coming in at 645 votes or 39.38%.
Three other candidates on the ballot, Maxwell Quattlebaum, Walt Lese, and Lou Luckhardt each came in with less than 10% of the votes.
To replace Isbell’s Mayor Pro Tem seat, candidate’s David Espedal, Sara Wilder, Chad Wester and Trevor Wilhoite were on the ballot.
None took more than 50% of the vote; Espedal had 671 ones, Wester received 607 votes, Wilhoite 188 votes and Wilder 155 votes.
