ELLIS COUNTY – Weather permitting, the following traffic impacts are scheduled as part of an ongoing improvement project:
• Northbound I-35E will close and detour to the frontage road and southbound I-35E will narrow to one lane between Bear Creek Road and Red Oak Road from 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 16 until 9 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 17.
• Southbound I-35E will close and detour to the frontage road and northbound I-35E will narrow to one lane between Bear Creek Road and Red Oak Road from 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 23 until 9 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 24.
Marked detours will be in place. Drivers should expect delays when traveling through the area during these overnight hours.
The temporary traffic switches will allow crews to further the FM 664 Single-Point Urban Interchange construction at I-35E. Overall completion of the $137 million project is expected in Spring 2028.
