TCEQ rejects Shankle Rd MUD

WAXAHACHIE – The Texas Commission of Environmental Quality Commissioners denied the Shankle Road Municipal Utility District in a 3 – 0 ruling at a meeting held Nov. 20.

Ellis County Judge Todd Little made the announcement regarding the denial at last week’s Ellis County Commissioner’s Court meeting.

“This is a huge victory,” Little said. 

“We do not know of another MUD District in the last three years that has been denied by the TCEQ.”

Little thanked the county’s legal team, the professional witnesses who offered information and technical data, which he said was instrumental in the denial due to the lack of feasibility in the district, and the Ellis County Citizens Against MUD Districts for their public input on the matter.

Ellis County has been fighting the Shankle Road Municipal Utility District for the past two years.

Little concluded, “At this point our legal team will update us on any information regarding existing MUD districts that have applied.”
