ELLIS COUNTY – It was a rare opportunity to get a look at what is happening at the Texas border when retired Deputy Chief of the US Border Patrol and Ellis County resident Matthew Hudak spoke at last week’s Ellis County GOP meeting to a standing-room only crowd.

Hudak offered a first-hand account of what’s happening at the border now and for the past number of years.

He also answered questions about the border crisis as it currently is today.

Hudak served at a senior level under the Trump administration and then under the Harris-Biden administration before his recent retirement.

He explained the policies put in place during both administrations Tuesday night and how each one differs along with the overall net effect.

J.J. Brookshire, Ellis County GOP’s Chair of the Communications/Marketing Subcommittee said, “Mat will speak briefly and take questions from the audience.

“I sincerely believe this to be a unique opportunity for us to hear directly from, not only a subject matter expert but a fellow Ellis County resident regarding what is the number one issue among many voters in the upcoming presidential election.”

Also at last week’s meeting independent Russian journalist, Alexey Pivovarov (YouTube channel “Redaktsiya”, 4 million subscribers, 20 million views in the past month, 500,000 views from the US), was in attendance working on a documentary about the U.S. elections for a Russian-speaking audience.

Pivovarov’s goal is to present a comprehensive view of the U.S. elections to viewers in Russia and Russian-speaking audiences worldwide, while also countering Kremlin propaganda narratives related to the U.S. elections.
