RED OAK – More than 370 prospective students and guests visited Texas State Technical College’s North Texas campus on Feb. 22, to participate in TechXperience.

Jarriet Durham, an instructor for the North Texas campus’s Industrial Systems program, said the event provided students with a broader view of what life after high school can look like.

“Events like this are important for high school students because they can be exposed to other options besides attending a university or joining the military,” he said.

Michelle Hoffman, an admissions advisor for TSTC’s North Texas campus, said she witnessed some of the students’ eagerness about having TSTC as an alternative to what are considered traditional paths following high school graduation.

“The thing that stood out about this event is the excitement that some of the students had when telling me about a program they had visited and (that they) wanted to apply to our school,” Hoffman said.

During the event, prospective students were given the opportunity to tour the campus’s programs at their leisure, talking to instructors and asking questions along the way.
