MIDLOTHIAN – An Emergency Preparedness and Safety Conference will be held on Saturday, March 14, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon at the Midlothian Conf. Center, 1 Community Circle Drive.
The event will provide residents with practical tools, resources, and expert guidance to help prepare for emergencies before, during, and after unexpected events. Attendees will learn about emergency planning, disaster response, and community safety efforts, and will have the opportunity to connect with local public safety professionals and emergency management partners.
Organized by the City of Midlothian Office of Emergency Management, the event will include a variety if topics including: Severe Weather Preparedness; Emergency Communications and the Amateur Radio Network; Emergency Plans for Family, Children, Elderly and Pets; Civilian Response to Active Shooter Threats; Wills and Trusts; Fraud Prevention; Fire Safety; Power Outages; Cyber Safety; and Human Trafficking Prevention.
The free event is open to the public, thanks to participation and support of the Midlothian Police Department, Midlothian Fire Department, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Dallas Stake), US Department of Homeland Security, Ellis County Amateur Radio Club, American Red Cross, Texas A&M Agrilife Extension, Midlothian Animal Services and Ellis County Sheriff’s Office.
