Overturned cattle hauler closes 287 offramp

WAXAHACHIE – A cattle hauler truck involved in a serious accident late last week at 287 northbound and 35E had that off ramp closed for roughly three hours.

The cause of the accident was not available at press time.

According to Waxahachie Fire-Rescue, responders worked quickly and safely to assess and treat the driver.

They then focused on offloading the surviving cattle.

Openings were cut in the roof and tailgate of the trailer to remove the cattle as carefully as possible. 
No word on how many cattle died, but the driver was said to be recovering.
