One student injured in Avalon school bus accident

AVALON – A Ellis County Co-Op school bus traveling north on Farm to Market Road 55 in the area of Goodwyn Road this past Friday around 4:30 p.m. was hit by a Maserati Ghibli.

The Maserati was traveling south when the accident occurred. The driver of the Maserati veered into the lane of traffic occupied by the school bus according to Sgt. William Lockridge, Texas department of Public Safety.

The school bus veered to the right and was hit by the Maserati on the left side. The school bus rolled on its side and came to rest in the bar ditch area.

The driver and passenger of the Maserati were uninjured. A 15-year-old passenger on the bus that received minor injuries and was transported by ambulance to the Midlothian Methodist Hospital. The crash is still under investigation.
