Murder suspect still at large

ENNIS – A suspect is still at large after a shooting Sunday morning at 2 a.m. outside of a residence at 1212 Grace Circle in Ennis.

A 55-year man from Rice, Texas whose name has not been released, was found unresponsive when officers arrived. 

Ennis Fire and Medical personnel also arrived at the location and upon checking the victim’s vitals determined there was nothing medically that could be done.  

Justice of the Peace Jackie Miller arrived and pronounced the victim dead.

The suspect, who police have identified as Bryant Carnell Whitehead, a 49-year-old black male from Cedar Hill, is still at large, Ennis Police reported on their Facebook page.

Witnesses said Whitehead and the victim were in an argument outside the Grace Circle residence when Whitehead pulled out a handgun and shot the victim.

Police said, “Whitehead has not been located and should be considered armed and dangerous.”

He fled the scene in a black 2013 Chrysler 200, license plate TX LFJ7569, before police arrived. 
Ennis Police Department is actively investigating this homicide.
