MILFORD – The Milford Volunteer Fire Department announced last month they received a $10,000 grant through the State Farm® Good Neighbor Firefighter Safety Program.
Milford VFD was one of 150 volunteer fire departments across the nation to receive the grant money.

Milford VFD Facebook page stated State Farm awarded $1.5 million in grants overall to help local fire departments obtain needed equipment to increase their responders’ safety, effectiveness and ability to serve their community.

“With this grant we will be able to acquire a couple more sets of new PPE (personal protective equipment) for our firefighters,” Assistant Fire Chief Eric Glass said.

“Utilizing this grant gets us a step closer to getting new equipment and gear for all members.”

In August the Milford VFD worked 14 fire calls, 10 medical calls, one alarm and four motor vehicle accidents.

The Milford VFD said they were honored to be picked for the grant and grateful for being considered.
