MIDLOTHIAN – The Midlothian Fire Department recently announced it had launched a Prehospital Whole Blood Program in partnership with Methodist Mansfield Medical Center.

A major milestone for the Midlothian community, the program is a “lifesaving advancement that will immediately benefit patients experiencing severe blood loss, traumatic injuries, OB/GYN emergencies, and critical medical conditions.”

According to the Midlothian Fire Department, whole blood administration in the field is one of the most progressive and impactful treatment modalities in modern EMS.

With the city’s Fire Department now having the ability to offer this advancement to the community, first responders will have the ability to begin lifesaving intervention minutes earlier than in the past during a time when “every second counts.”
