MIDLOTHIAN – Midlothian Assistant Police Chief Scott Brown said there is not much his department can say about the ongoing investigation involving a student at McClatchey Elementary and a staff member.

Assistant Chief Brown said, “Once the investigation is complete, more information will be forthcoming.”

Midlothian PD posted on Facebook investigators are working with MISD, the family and other involved parties to bring the case to a resolution.

It was noted both MISD and the family have been “fully cooperative.”

“The safety and wellbeing of every student in our care is our highest priority,” Midlothian PD posted.

“We are actively and thoroughly investigating this situation as part of our standard protocol when we receive any report that a staff member may have put a student’s safety and well-being at risk.”

What is known regarding the incident that happened last week is that the two staff members assigned to the classroom were put on administrative leave and will remain on leave throughout the investigation.

Midlothian PD also reported the district reported the incident to Child Protective Services.

“We are fully cooperating with law enforcement, Child Protective Services and the Ellis County Children’s Advocacy Center as they conduct their investigations in tandem with the district,” the post at Midlothian PD’s FB page read.
