I-45 fatality accident in Ferris shuts down highway

FERRIS – A Southbound I-45 accident in Ferris last Thursday, Oct. 9 left one person dead and one in stable condition.

The fatality accident happened in the early morning hours when reportedly the driver of a passenger vehicle fell asleep.

His car veered off the highway, bounced off a guard rail and bounced back into traffic where a semi-truck hit the vehicle.

The passenger was ejected from the vehicle and died instantly.

The semi-truck driver was transported to a hospital and was in stable condition.

Southbound I-45 traffic was snarled as the highway was closed and all traffic was diverted to the southbound service road.
