WILMER – Wilmer resident O.D. Chalmers turned 102 last week on July 16.
In addition to wishing him a happy birthday, here are a few details of his life.
Originally from Marshall, Texas, he was born in 1924 and moved to Wilmer at the age of 97.
Chalmers is also a proud Navy Veteran.
In 2021, Wilmer issued a proclamation on July 16, 2021, naming that day O.D. Chalmers Day.
Chalmers married his wife Cleo Thomas Chalmers over 80 years ago, and they had six children.
He has also has the joy of being a grandfather, great grandfather, and great, great grandfather.
His proclamation in 2021 read, “He has been a blessing to those around him and motivates friends and loved ones and everyone he meets.
