FERRIS – Rumor was the Ferris Police Department was duplicating citations in the city’s citation system last week.
As a result of this mistake, a resident was concerned warrants would be issued on citations already paid.
Ferris City Manager Brooks Williams said there would be no warrants made for citations that had already been paid, and the glitch in the system was taken care of last week.
“One individual had a duplicate citation in our citation system, due to a system error,” Williams explained. “The City is working with the citation vendor to ensure that there are redundancies in the programming, along with our audits.”
Williams said the individual in question had paid their citation and was then notified – via automated text – that if the citation was not paid it would have a pending-warrant status.
“The individual contacted the municipal court administrator, Misty MacDonald, and the issue was immediately resolved with no negative impact to the individual,” Williams added.
“An audit has been conducted and no other individuals have been impacted.”
