FERRIS – Get ready to take in some of the hometown spirit with Ferris’ upcoming Christmas on the Square. Sponsored by Ferris’ Unity in the Community organization, the Christmas celebration will be held on Saturday, Dec. 14 in downtown Ferris, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
There will be vendors at 11 a.m., and a parade starting at noon.

Following the parade there will be crafts, and children can enjoy meeting and telling Santa their Christmas wishes from 2 to 4 p.m.
Face painting will begin from 4 to 5:30 p.m., followed by the grand finale tree lighting in downtown Ferris at 5:30 p.m. to end the holiday celebration.
Shops and restaurants will be open during the day for browsing and eating.
And, The Ellis County Press will be hosting an open house from 2 to 3 p.m. at the newspaper/ECP-TV studios.
Come meet the staff and reporters who bring you news every week and the ECP-TV television team.
ECP-TV co-host Tommy Scott will also be cooking up his famous barbecue, and drinks and refreshments will be served.
Also, bring a toy or food item and drop it off in Ferris at 208 S. Central Street to help the North Ellis County Outreach provide for those less fortunate.
AREA TOY/FOOD DRIVES
The Red Oak Police Department is doing their toy drop off in the PD lobby as in years past to be forwarded to needy families within the community: 547 Methodist St., Red Oak
The City of Wilmer is having a toy/food drive this year. Items may be dropped off at City Hall: 128 N. Dallas Ave., Wilmer.
