ALMA
Public information requests for Alma can be made by requesting a form from City Hall. It then must be hand delivered or mailed to 104 Interurban Rd, Alma, TX 75119, through a written form submitted to any City Employee in writing electronically, by mail, fax, or letter. All public information requests to be valid, must be submitted in writing to the City according to the city’s website https://cityofalmatx.gov/public-information-request.
BARDWELL
At a recent called city council meeting in Bardwell on September 8, the city’s website indicated council was discussing and considering the 2025/2026 fiscal year budget as well as the approval of a tax rate of $0.174152 for the fiscal year 2025/2026 to the voter approved rate. There is no update on the city’s website if these items passed at the meeting.
ENNIS
A road construction update from Ennis’ city website reminds of TxDOT’s undertaking of a project to improve the intersection at SH-34 and IH-45. The project details according to the city’s website had a start date of August 4, 2025, and will last for 223 days. Currently the website indicates the progress of the project is at 8.52% completion.
GARRETT
The Garrett city council unanimously approved its proposed 2025-2026 fiscal year budget.
GLENN HEIGHTS
Glenn Heights will be offering the Mayor’s Mobile Mammography Screening at the Glenn Heights City Center on Oct. 4 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The screening is open to everyone with or without insurance. Appointments are required.
ITALY
Italy will be holding a comprehensive Town Hall meeting Tuesday, Oct. 14 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Italy Community Center, 108 Harpold. The Town Hall topics will allow residents to learn more about the comprehensive planning process, share ideas and connect with neighbors about the future of Italy.
MAYPEARL
Maypearl reported a brush pile fire that began with an unplanned ignition, occurring at the city’s brush pile site. It was reported the area was still burning and smoldering, and residents were told they would notice smoke over the next week as the fire continued to subside. There were multiple piles involved, primarily consisting of trees, brush, and yard clippings, but the city assured the public there were no health or safety concerns.
MIDLOTHIAN
Construction on North 7th Street began in Midlothian between Main Street and Avenue F in downtown. The area will be under construction for the next four weeks to reconfigure the parking spaces. To minimize disruption, only half of the street will be closed at a time, allowing access to nearby businesses, starting with the half closest to Avenue F, then proceeding with the half closest to Main Street. Through traffic will not be possible during the construction.
MILFORD
Milford is one of the cities serviced by the Justice of the Peace new sub-courthouse opened last week in Waxahachie.
OAK LEAF
Oak Leaf has a “City of Oak Leaf Texas Citizens” page at www.facebook.com/groups/376006622938223. It is a closed Facebook group for residents and possibly a good way to gain information about local city events and politics.
PALMER
Earlier this month Palmer posted on their Facebook page updates and ongoing improvements to the city, including the Dallas Street Water Line Upgrade project, which was a grant project for improvements at the Wastewater Treatment Plant; the Denton Street Sewer Line Replacement project; street improvements on North Stacks Street, South Main Street, Hanover Avenue, and Parker Hill Road, as well as smoke testing in the Green Acres neighborhood to identify sewer issues.
