After many years, the Old Alma Rd. South bridge will finally be replaced. A post requests residents to keep off the road while the bridge construction is underway. The work will begin in the next few weeks.

The Bardwell Volunteer Fire Department thanks the community for its support and recently developed and implemented an Emergency Service District.

FERRIS
Ferris is launching a new animal care campus through a public private partnership with Flying B Animal Rescue and Sanctuary to expand local animal sheltering, strengthen rescue capacity, and bring veterinary care on site for both shelter animals and the public. The campus will be located on a five acre site near I-45 and Loop 9, and will be approximately 5000-square-feet designed to support both animal shelter operations and veterinary services.

GLENN HEIGHTS

ITALY
Italy had a large main break this past weekend affecting all residents. The water department told customers to boil water until further notice. Public Works was working on the issue but had not estimate of when the water would be turned back on.
MAYPEARL
Maypearl City Council was not able to obtain approval for the road repair at Fifth St. and Morton St. This item was on the agenda this week for an official vote.
MIDLOTHIAN
The Midlothian Mayor’s Annual Winter Walk will be Saturday, Feb. 21 from 10 a.m. to noon at Mockingbird Nature Park, 1361 Onward Rd. The free event will be a one-mile guided nature walk led by the Indian Trail Master Naturalists. It’s open to all ages and refreshments – kids’ crafts, and prize drawings will be offered.
OVILLA
Roadway marking improvements on Cockrell Hill Rd./West Main from Westlawn Dr. to Ovilla Rd. (F.M. 664) are complete.

Red Oak is still having its Holiday Grease Roundup on Jan. 31.
If you have comfort food, wings, or fryer foods don’t pour fats, oils, and grease down the drain.
Instead, drop off anytime at the Public Works Building, 411 W Red Oak Rd. in the outdoor steel drum.
WAXAHACHIE
Beginning Monday, Jan. 12, the Waxahachie Streets Department will implement a road closure on Patrick Rd. between Marshall Rd. and Old Settlers Tr. for drainage repair.
The road is expected to remain closed until Jan. 30, weather permitting. Use Ovilla Rd. as an alternate route.
