Alma paid its respects last week to longtime resident Elayna Benton. The City offices were closed early last Wednesday to attend Benton’s funeral service. She was the wife of city employee Jim Benton.
BARDWELL
The next Bardwell City Council meeting will be on Mon., Feb. 23 at 7:30 p.m. at 5746 Planter’s Gin Road. Items on the agenda include areas within Bardwell city limits for a commercial/retail zone and options for funding the annexed properties water line project.
ENNIS
Ennis ISD’s FFA program was proud to announce last week that the Maroon Blooms sent out the first Spring Floral of the Month Club Arrangements and have grown subscription numbers since the Fall.
They now send out to three different campuses across the district. The Advanced Floral Design student’s latest designs were Valentine-inspired beauties featuring classic red roses, and soft pink and white accents.
The Facebook page explains, “Every arrangement was created with creativity, care, and a whole lot of love.”

Ferris ISD’s Ferris All Sports club announced Landri Davis was named Top Pitcher DFW for Feb. 9-10 for 5IP 2H OER 7K vs. Sunnyvale.
GLENN HEIGHTS
Glenn Heights 2026 State of the City Address will be held on Feb. 18 at 11:30 a.m. at the Glenn Heights Community Center. The address will celebrate 2025’s achievements, highlight exciting future projects, and hear from various city departments.

The Public Works Department will be flushing water lines every second Friday of the month. You may experience low pressure or no water for a few minutes.
MAYPEARL
Maypearl encourages safe, clean, and beautiful parks and these rules from the Park & Recreation Ordinance were recently approved:
• Drive only on designated streets or roads
• No motorized vehicles on grass, trails, or non-designated areas
• Park only in marked parking areas
• No parking in parks between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.
• Commercial vehicles are not allowed without special permission
Clean-Up Rules:
• Place all trash, cans, bottles, and papers in proper waste receptacles
• Do not leave garbage or refuse behind
• No glass containers allowed in parks
• Remove and dispose of pet waste immediately in proper receptacles

MIDLOTHIAN
The deadline to register for the Midlothian Police Department’s 33rd Citizen’s Police Academy is Thursday, Feb. 19. The purpose of the Academy is to give citizens an opportunity to learn about police work in general and also gain insight into the Midlothian Police Department. The Academy is free and will be held on Thursday nights from 6 to 9 p.m. for 10 weeks starting Feb. 26, and ending May 14.

The District Championship is on the line this week for the Milford Bulldogs. The determining game is this week’s Bulldogs VS. Avalon Eagles.
OVILLA
The traffic detour notice for West Main Street has been canceled by the contractor at this time.
PALMER
The next Palmer City Council meeting will be held on Thursday, February 19 from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. at City Hall, 650 S. Dallas St.
PECAN HILL
Pecan Hill City Council meetings are the third Tuesday of every month at 7 p.m.
RED OAK
A Local and Small Business Workshop will be held on Thursday, Feb. 26 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Red Oak Government Center, 101 S Live Oak St. The workshop will highlight how business can connect with local governments and take advantage of new procurement opportunities.
It will walk attendees through vendor registration, certification requirements, and bidding processes while offering insider tips from city procurement experts.
WAXAHACHIE
There will be a special election in Waxahachie on May 2 to determine if the Mayor’s seat should be elected at large and if council terms should increase from two years to three years. This will be in addition to the three seats on the Waxahachie City Council.
