ENNIS – The Ennis special election has been called for Jan. 31, 2026 to fill the vacant seats for Mayor and Mayor Pro Tem.
Both seats are open due to the resignations of Mayor Kameron Raburn and Mayor Pro Tem Lynda Isbell.
Raburn vacated his seat to run for Ellis County Judge.
He said, “I’m excited to officially announce my campaign for Ellis County Judge. As a sixth-generation Texan and a proud Republican, I’m ready to bring ethical, conservative leadership to the courthouse.
“As your county judge, I’ll work to lower your taxes, ensure responsible growth, and serve as a conservative leader you can trust.”
Isbell has resigned her seat to run for City of Ennis Mayor.
The candidate filing period for both positions is from Monday, Nov. 3 to Friday, Nov. 21.
Eligible residents interested in running for office can find filing requirements, candidate packets, and detailed election information on the City’s special election information page.
Early voting for the special election will be from Jan. 20 to 27, 2026 (dates pending official notice) and election day Jan. 31.
