ENNIS – Ennis will be replacing current Mayor Kameron Raburn soon and is currently working to determine an official date for a special election to fill his mayoral seat.

Raburn announced on October 7 his candidacy for Ellis County Judge.

“I’m excited to officially announce my campaign for Ellis County Judge,” Raburn said. “As a sixth-generation Texan and a proud Republican, I’m ready to bring ethical, conservative leadership to the courthouse. As your county judge, I’ll work to lower your taxes, ensure responsible growth, and serve as a conservative leader you can trust.”

In accordance with election law, Raburn’s announcement triggers his resignation as Mayor of Ennis.

When the special election date is confirmed, the City will release more information regarding the filing period and election procedures.

According to a media release from the city “The special election will most likely be held near the end of January 2026.”

Raburn will continue to serve as Mayor until the results of the special election are canvassed and a newly elected mayor is sworn in.
