ELLIS COUNTY – The Ellis County Commissioners Court voted unanimously to purchase the VEMACS Support and VoteSafe Support from the VOTEC Corporation for $61,746.72 in payment for the first year.
A vote was also passed to grant an exemption from the Purchasing Act to VOTEC in accordance with local government code.
The VEMACS products include voter registration, district/precinct/street mapping, election initiation, mail ballots/absentee voting, poll locations and workers, petition checking, state voter registration system support, and electronic pollbook.
“Do we truly have a safe and equitable voting system,” Ellis County Judge Todd Little said as to the importance of this equipment.
“And coming in this year is a presidential election, we need to be assured as voters we have the proper equipment.”
