FERRIS – Ladarion Jimal Blair, 18, of Dallas was booked into the Ellis County Jail and faces four separate criminal charges:
• Evading arrest or detention with a vehicle
• Disorderly conduct – discharge of a firearm
• Unlawful carrying of a weapon
• Fleeing from a police officer
Ferris Police, in coordination with multiple regional law enforcement agencies, successfully apprehended Blair following a high-speed vehicle pursuit and subsequent foot chase early Wednesday morning.
On July 15, at approximately 3:46 a.m., a Ferris Police officer attempted to make contact with a suspicious vehicle near the local soccer fields.
The officer initiated radio traffic after observing the occupant inside the vehicle actively discharging a firearm, identified as an AK-style pistol.
Upon the officer’s approach, the vehicle fled the scene at high speed.
The pursuit traveled toward Red Oak and Lancaster before the suspect vehicle turned back into the city limits of Ferris.
Deputies from the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office joined the active pursuit to assist Ferris officers.
The vehicle eventually came to a stop in the Bluff Springs neighborhood.
A male occupant, dressed in a T-shirt, shorts, and carrying a backpack, exited the vehicle and fled into the residential area on foot.
Law enforcement immediately established a secure perimeter, deployed a specialized K9 unit, and launched an unmanned aerial vehicle to track the fleeing suspect.
The suspect, later identified as Blair, was located within the perimeter and safely taken into custody without further incident.
No injuries to civilians or law enforcement personnel were reported, and no property damage occurred during the pursuit.
