ELLIS COUNTY – The Ellis County Fire Marshal’s Office released information this past weekend regarding a house explosion that occurred Friday, Aug. 2.
The house, located at 173 Ike Road in Waxahachie, was destroyed following the explosion, and an elderly couple were transported to Parkland Hospital in Dallas and are in stable condition.
Ellis County Fire Marshal Tim Birdwell indicated the explosion was still under investigation, and a release revealed the cause is yet undetermined.
Birdwell also said, “We do know that propane was being used by the household and that is what caused the explosion.”
However, Birdwell said his office is continuing to investigate the ignition source that caused the propane to explode. He indicated there were several more ignition sources still to be eliminated.
