ELLIS COUNTY – The current 90-day Ellis County burn ban was extended at the Sept. 3 Ellis County Commissioner Court meeting.
Ellis County Fire Marshal Tim Birdwell suggested commissioners keep the burn ban in effect – until at least the next commissioners court meeting – as he said numbers he adheres to for requesting the burn ban were still high.
The commissioners also approved the Ellis County Emergency Service District #10 and #11 elections to be held on Nov. 5.
Elections Administrator for Ellis County Jana Onyon was available for questions.
Ellis County Judge Todd Little asked, “Didn’t Ennis end up coming back and supporting both of these?”
Onyon said, “Both have worked out, but there is no portion of Ennis with the ETJ or the city within #11.”
Commissioner Lane Grayson, Pct.2, asked Onyon, “And the group that wants the election is okay with that?” Onyon replied “yes.”
Little told commissioners, “You may anticipate resolutions from both of those elections, so we may want to signal to the public that we are in support of those if you so choose, that will be brought in late September.”
