WAXAHACHIE – This past week’s Ellis County Commissioners Court was a short 19 minutes.
A cost saving item passed unanimously to approve a joint resolution for the Ellis County Republican Party Chair and the Ellis County Democratic Party Chair to enter into a 2026 joint primary election service contract with the Ellis County Election Administrator.
Elections relating to the contract are both the March 3, 2026, Primary election and the May 26, 2026 Primary Runoff election.
Both party chairs are agreeable to enter into the joint primary election services contract according to Ellis County Election Administrator Jana Onyon.
Onyon pointed out this move allows the county to cut costs, since both parties will be sharing polling locations, workers, and equipment.
Ellis County Judge John Wray confirmed this was consistent with how these elections have been held in the past.
