ELLIS / DALLLAS  COUNTY – With the Ellis County Sheriff’s Department at the helm, nine local agencies including Italy Police, Waxahachie Police, Texas Highway Patrol, Red Oak Police, DeSoto Police and their K9 Unit, Lancaster Police and their K9 Unit, Dallas Police and their K9 Unit, and Dallas Police Air 1 apprehended a burglary suspect last Tuesday.

A report came in at 9:30 a.m. of a burglary in progress in the 500 block of Judys Lane in Italy.

Ellis County Sheriff’s Office responded to the burglary and upon arrival the suspect fled the scene in a new model pink Ford Bronco.

The suspect was identified as Anthony Turner, a resident of Little River Academy, Bell County, Texas.

Turner had reportedly borrowed the pink Bronco from a friend residing in Allen.

Fleeing in the visibly obvious vehicle, a pursuit ensued during which time a media release from the Ellis County Sheriff’s Department noted deputies observed Turner discarding stolen property from the residence out of the vehicle’s window.

The pursuit continued into Dallas County and concluded when the suspect abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot.

At that point, DeSoto, Lancaster and Dallas responded and deployed K9 units to assist in the search.

“A coordinated perimeter was established with the help of nearby police departments, and air support was brought in to aid in locating the suspect,” stated the media release.

Turner was located and taken into custody without further incident.

He was transported to the Wayne McCollum Detention Center in Ellis County.

Turner was charged with burglary of habitation, tampering or fabricating physical evidence with intent to impair, evading arrest or detention with a vehicle, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, and two counts of possession of a controlled substance, penalty groups 2 and 3.

He remains in custody with a bond set at $150,000.

Ellis County Sheriff Brad Norman said the agencies working alongside his deputies were crucial in ensuring the safe and successful apprehension of the suspect.
