FERRIS – Residents jumped out of their homes Sunday morning around 11:20 to see if neighbors had any idea what was going on following the practically two-minute-long electrical noise which logically sounded as though it could have been multiple transformers blowing, a train or plane wreck or even a tornado.
911 lines were jammed up and the west side of Ferris was without power for at least an hour, so people began to investigate.
The power station seemed intact, there were no visible fires from possible explosions and transformers also looked normal.
Then the sirens began screaming, not the emergency ones – more like those of fire engines, ambulances and police cars possibly assisting scared or injured residents?
City offices were closed Monday for Memorial Day, but two employees suggested it was likely a transformer blowing, maybe more than one.
“It would probably take as many as four to cause this kind of power outage.”
Power was restored by afternoon.
