WAXAHACHIE – In a Paris-like setting of umbrellas and live music, artists will bring their easels to downtown Waxahachie Nov. 15 to paint their award-winning unique work.
The live music will serenade as visitors stroll beneath large umbrellas, watching their favorite artists in action while they browse through the local shops and sample Texas wines provided by Hachie Uncorked.
“It will be like Montmartre, the artist square in Paris with artists painting and selling their art under black and white umbrellas around the most beautiful courthouse in Texas,” Patti Holloway, co-chairman of the Plein Air event, said.
“Multiple wines will be served throughout the downtown merchant stores. There will be a stage and music playing, also.”
After visiting downtown, visitors can walk to the nearby Women’s Building to view more than 200 original paintings featured at the 18th Annual Plein Air Show featuring the works of about 40 talented artists from across the country.
These events will highlight the weekend of Nov. 15-16.
The paintings at the Women’s Building will be on display both days from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. as Hachie Uncorked, sponsored by Downtown Merchants, will take place downtown Nov. 15 from noon to 5 p.m.
Over the course of many days, artists have been painting the historic and scenic beauty of Waxahachie, capturing its charming landscapes, stunning architecture and vibrant colors.
The Plein Air show will be judged Friday night Nov. 14 with results available to the public the next two days.
The Women’s Art Club is sponsoring the ECAA Plein Air Show that will be exhibited at the historical Women’s Building. The Women’s Building was built in 1925 and is at 408 S. Rogers St, Waxahachie.
Whether you’re a seasoned collector or adding your first piece of original art, this event is an opportunity to take home a beautiful memory of the historic Texas town.
