RED OAK – The Red Oak chief of police has announced he will continue his series of meetings called “Coffee with the Command Staff” beginning this Friday, Feb. 25.

Coffee will be served at Cancun’s in Red Oak to continue a four-year tradition that had been a regular occurrence before the 2020 pandemic.

“We did suspend the meeting temporarily due to COVID-19,” said Red Oak Police Chief Garland Wolf.

Each month the chief and his command staff choose different local businesses to meet with members of the community and hear their concerns and answer questions.

Attendance is sporadic according to Wolf, but he said the police department has adjusted the hours, times, and dates over the years to be more accessible to residents, but it didn’t seem to increase nor decrease attendance.

“It is our hope that providing accessibility to decision makers at all levels of the organization will help the community feel comfortable enough to speak openly about concerns and issues they find important,” Wolf said.
