Palmer and Red Oak Fire/Rescue units responded to a high water rescue call between 10 and 10:30 a.m. on Sat., Oct. 28.

A woman became stranded when she drove her Mustang into the flooded southbound I-45 frontage near Palmer.

Palmer Fire/Rescue responded with one engine, fire rescue truck, and the chiefs vehicle. Red Oak responded with the Swift Water Rescue crew and a ladder truck.

The rescue units were able to safely retrieve her and her two dogs from the vehicle.

Further south of Palmer, at least 3 other vehicles were left sitting on the flooded roadway with water up to their roofs, and they will remain there until the water recedes.
