The Ferris Public Library honors all military veterans on Thursday, Nov. 11, 2021. We are grateful for your service to our country; we owe our freedoms to each of you who served in all military branches.

The 21st Annual Ellis County Veterans Appreciation Ceremony will be on Saturday, Nov. 13, 2021, at the Waxahachie Civic Center located off 35E. and US Hwy. 287. It’s free, and everyone is welcome. A Classic Swing Band will start it off at 9:30 a.m., and the ceremony begins at 10 a.m. Special tributes will be held during the event, and more to follow outside afterward. I hope everyone goes to the Civic Center to enjoy this special occasion.

NEW BOOKS: “The Last Green Valley” by Mark Sullivan, “Active Defense” by Lynette Eason, “Whiplash: The Champions #2” by Janet Dailey, “Complications” by Danielle Steel, “We Are the Brennans” by Tracey Lange, “One-hour Comfort: Quick, Cozy, Modern Dishes for All Your Cravings” (Dewey 641) by America’s Test Kitchen, “The Sisters of Auschwitz: The True Story of Two Jewish Sisters’ Resistance in the Heart of Nazi Territory” (Dewey 940) by Roxane Van Iperen, and “Ordinary Heroes: A Memoir of 9/11” (Dewey 973) by Joseph Pfeifer.
