February is both Black History Month and Library Lovers Month and we are offering a wide range of activities and resources to celebrate both.
The library has a special collection of books by and about African American authors, civil rights leaders, and black historical figures that will be showcased all month long. Stop by anytime this month and take part in our scavenger hunt highlighting influential figures in Black History.
Library Lovers Month is celebrated throughout the month of February and is an opportunity to honor the vital role libraries play in communities. It’s a time to celebrate the joy of reading, learning, and discovering all that libraries offer.
We will be observing Take Your Child to the Library Day on Thursday, Feb. 6. Children 16 and younger can sign up for a FREE library card, regardless of address (parent/guardian must have valid ID or driver’s license). We will have children’s activities from 3 – 5 p.m., including face painting and balloon animals.
STORY TIME is hosted every Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. Children are treated to stories, fun activities, and a snack. Before leaving, your child may choose a prize from the treasure chest to take home.
AFTER-SCHOOL GAME TIME is held each Thursday from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Children can play the PS5 on the large screen in the meeting room and board games are also available.
NEW BOOKS: “Lazarus Man” by Richard Price, “Identity Unknown” by Patricia Cornwell, and “John Lewis: A Life” (Dewey BIO) by David Greenberg.
