FERRIS PUBLIC LIBRARY: More than Books (January 18, 2024)

Whether your New Year’s resolution involves a personal commitment to adopt new habits, make positive lifestyle changes, or achieve specific goals, the Ferris Public Library can help you find resources to accomplish it.

If reading more is your goal, we’ve got you covered! There’s something for everyone at the library. Pick up newly published books, download eBooks to your device, or listen to an audiobook on the go!

Are you trying to save money this year? Your library is one of the few places where you can go that is FREE. Reduce spending by borrowing books, movies, or simply come hang out with your family or friends.

How about looking for ways to eat more vegetables, add to your recipe selection, make meal plans, or cook at home more? If so, explore the library system’s extensive collection of cookbooks for inspiration and guidance.

Story Time is hosted every Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. Children are treated to stories, fun activities, and a snack. Before leaving, your child may choose a prize from the Treasure Chest to take home.

After-School Game Time is held each Thursday from 3:30 - 5 p.m. Children can play the PS5 on the large screen in the meeting room. Board games are also available!

NEW BOOKS: “Inheritance” by Nora Roberts, “Just Once” by Karen Kingsbury, “Manner of Death” by Robin Cook, “The Watchmaker’s Hand” by Jeffrey Deaver, and “The Woman in Me” (Dewey BIO) by Britney Spears.

WORD OF THE WEEK: “Epiphany” (ih-PIF-uh-nee): a sudden understanding or realization of something in a new or very clear way (noun).

When asked to define an epiphany, poet Maya Angelou said, “It’s the occurrence when the mind, the body, the heart, and the soul focus together and see an old thing in a new way.”

The library is located at 301 E. 10th St., across from Mutz Ballpark. Library staff may be reached at ferrislibrary@ferristexas.gov or (972) 544-2110, Option 9.
