STORY TIME at the Ferris Public Library is more than just listening to a book – it’s a warm, welcoming space created to spark a love of reading from a very early age.

Children will enjoy stories read aloud with expression and fun voices, along with songs, movement, and simple activities or crafts that keep little bodies and minds involved. Each session gives children a chance to socialize and feel comfortable in a library setting.

Story Time is a wonderful way to build routines, make new friends, and create special memories. Join us every Wednesday at 10:30 a.m.

The City of Ferris and Leaders at Heart Academy, in partnership with the North Texas Food Bank, will host their monthly Mobile Food Pantry on Thursday, Jan. 15, starting at 9 a.m. at 1000 Ferris Road. If you have any questions or are interested in volunteering, please contact Mr. Knight at tjknight@leadersatheart.education.

Join us on Thursday, Jan. 29 from 3:30 to 5 p.m. for LEGO LAB, a relaxed, come-and-go program with no set rules – just creativity! Kids can build towers, vehicles, creatures, or anything their imaginations dream up using our large collection of Lego bricks. No registration needed, just stop by and start building!

BOOK BLURB: “Autism, Sensory and Behavior: Everything You Need to Know (The Way I See It)” by Temple Grandin, released 2025.

Most autistic individuals deal with a variety of sensory differences, and in this book Dr. Grandin sheds light on the best ways for them to adapt and thrive. In these helpful pages, Dr. Grandin offers do’s and don’ts, practical strategies, and try-it-now tips, all based on her insider perspective and extensive research.

She argues that individuals on the autism spectrum must focus on their overlooked strengths to foster their unique contributions to the world. She has packed a wealth of knowledge into this book, which serves as an excellent reference resource for parents, educators and caregivers on how to manage sensory issues.

The library is located at 301 E. 10th St., across from Mutz Ballpark. Library staff may be reached at ferrislibrary@ferristexas.gov or (972) 544-2110, Option 9.
