FERRIS PUBLIC LIBRARY: More than Books (December 28, 2023)

The Ferris Public Library will be closed to the public from Jan. 2 – 4, for our annual inventory. We will reopen Monday, Jan. 8 at 9 a.m.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but it is extremely important that we have an accurate counting of our collection.

Due dates for all items checked out have been adjusted to reflect this closing.

NEW YEAR’S FACTS/TRIVIA: The earliest New Year’s festivities date back about 4,000 years. At that time, the people of ancient Babylon began their new year in what we now call March. The Gregorian calendar that we use today was introduced 400 years ago by Pope Gregory XIII in 1582. He declared once and for all that Jan. 1 should be New Year’s Day. Since then, the Western world has celebrated the start of the year on the first day of January.

The library is located at 301 E. 10th St., across from Mutz Ballpark. Library staff may be reached at ferrislibrary@ferristexas.gov or (972) 544-2110, Option 9.
